Andrew Ranken, the drummer of the Anglo-Irish folk-punk band The Pogues, formed in London in 1982, has died at the age of 73. This was announced on February 11 in the press service of the musical group.

"It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Ranken, drummer, co—founder and heart of The Pogues," the band said in a statement posted on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation).

At the moment, the cause of death of the musician is unknown.

Andrew Ranken was born on November 13, 1953, in Ladbroke Grove, London. He joined the band in 1983. Back then, the band was called Pogue Mahone and was just starting out. The drummer played with the band until their breakup in 1996, and then rejoined them from 2001 to 2014.
