Disagreements between the Pentagon and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) The United States over the testing of laser weapons against drones led to the closure of airspace over El Paso (Texas) and most of southern New Mexico. This was reported on February 11 by the Associated Press (AP), citing sources.

Earlier it was reported that the FAA closed the airspace over El Paso for several hours.

"The sudden and unexpected closure of the airspace over El Paso was caused by the Pentagon's plans to test a laser to shoot down drones used by Mexican drug cartels," the publication says.

It is clarified that the testing was carried out without prior approval from the FAA, which required to ensure the safety of tests for civil aviation. As a result, the aviation authorities closed the airspace.

Sasha Ingber, a former employee of the State Department and NPR radio station, said on January 12 that the US Army has weapons that allegedly cause "Havana syndrome," manifested by dizziness, nausea, headaches and hearing problems. According to her, the device was seized by special forces and is being tested to study the principle of operation.
