- Restoration of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in the Sviblovo estate has been completed in Moscow
In Moscow, specialists have completed a comprehensive restoration of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in the Sviblovo estate. This was announced on Wednesday, February 11, by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in the Max messenger.
He noted that the history of the church dates back to the 14th century, when boyar Fyodor Sviblo ordered the construction of a wooden temple on the banks of the Yauza River. Later, in the 17th century, a new church was built on the site of the burnt-down church, and in 1704-1708, Peter I's associate Kirill Naryshkin built a stone temple. Over time, the chapel of St. George and the bell tower were added to it. The estate was owned by famous noble families, and in the 19th century Nikolai Karamzin lived here, writes Moscow 24.
According to the mayor, the architecture of the temple combines elements of Naryshkin and Petrovsky Baroque, which makes it unique, NSN notes. During the restoration, specialists updated the facades and interiors, restored the brickwork, white stone decor, moldings of the bell tower, as well as plaster and floors, the Moscow City News agency reports.
Sobyanin stressed that the temple is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance and one of the architectural symbols of the north-east of the capital, which will once again delight citizens with its beauty and history.
