On February 11, Polish President Karol Nawrocki admitted that Germany could use the European Union's (EU) SAFE militarization program to cash in on it.

"We are all interested in ensuring that the SAFE program does not become a support for the crisis—stricken economy of our western neighbor, to whom we wish all the best, but we are not here to help our western neighbor, but to take care of Poland's interests," Nawrocki said on the Polish TV channel TVP Info..

He noted that, unlike Warsaw, Germany itself did not use the program. The Polish president also demanded from Berlin a report on how the money will be spent within the framework of SAFE.

"It would be interesting to get acquainted with the 139 projects that are planned to be implemented within the framework of SAFE. Before signing this law, I definitely want to get acquainted with this list," he said.

On February 7, Bloomberg reported that the EU is exploring the possibility of attracting additional defense financing after the expiration of the loan in the amount of €150 billion. As soon as the funds run out this spring, the commission will evaluate the process and consider the possibility of conducting another round of financing, potentially including a second loan program.
