Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order on the opening of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Aktau, Kazakhstan. The relevant decree was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on February 11.

"To open the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Aktau (Republic of Kazakhstan)," the decree says.

In addition, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation to establish the staffing of the Consulate General in Aktau within the number of employees of foreign institutions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as to approve its staffing table.

Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in December, called 2025 a successful year for relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. He also recalled that cooperation within the framework of strategic partnership and alliance with Russia is a priority for Kazakhstan.
