Tourists will be offered alternative vacation options due to flight adjustments to Cuba. This was announced by the press service of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) on Wednesday, February 11.

"Organized tourists who have purchased trips to Cuba with departures in February, March and later dates can expect to receive alternative offers from tour operators, postponement of travel dates or refund of funds in accordance with the terms of the agreement," the Moscow City News agency quotes the message.

According to preliminary estimates, there are currently about 4 thousand Russian citizens in Cuba, the PCT noted.

"Tourists are advised to keep in touch with their travel agent, tour operator and airline to obtain up—to-date information and promptly resolve emerging issues," the press service concluded.

The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation has recommended that Russian citizens refrain from tourist trips to the island until the situation normalizes due to the critical fuel situation in Cuba. 360.ru . Travel agencies were also advised to suspend the sale of tours to Cuba until the situation there returns to the previous one, RT reports.

On the same day, it was reported that Rossiya and Nordwind Airlines were forced to make adjustments to the flight program to the island's airports due to difficulties with refueling aircraft in Cuba.

The Efe news agency reported on February 9 that the Cuban authorities, amid the escalating energy crisis, notified air carriers of an imminent shortage of aviation fuel. It was noted that the fuel reserves for aircraft in the country may run out within 24 hours.
