- Lavrov spoke about the lessons of Russia after communicating with the West in the framework of the UN
Russia has learned lessons from communicating with the West within the framework of the UN platform and no longer believes in observing "basic decency." This was stated on February 11 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a speech at the government hour in the State Duma.
"One of the lessons we learned from this is that earlier, during the period of continuing hopes that it was possible to reach an agreement with the West on a mutually beneficial basis, we missed many things in the Security Council, agreed with them, although we understood that, in general, there was some kind of trap," Lavrov said.
The Foreign Minister also noted that Russia hoped that the West would observe basic decency. He noted that Western countries often impose sanctions without a deadline. According to him, when restrictions are imposed on other participants, their validity period should be indicated in order to "give the country a chance to eliminate the shortcomings and criticisms that have been expressed."
On the same day, in an interview for the Empathy Manuchi Internet project on February 11, Lavrov shared his opinion on the methods of US pressure on UN representatives, including the use of blackmail and manipulation to achieve the necessary voting results. He clarified that many countries that promised to support Russia in advance ended up voting against or abstaining, exposed to American influence.
