Korostelev took 15th place in the split-start race at the OI-2026
On Friday, February 13, skier Savely Korostelev competed in the 10 km freestyle race at the 2026 Olympics in Italy. He covered the distance in 21 minutes 42.3 seconds and took 15th place. The Russian athlete competed in a neutral status, without national symbols.
The winner of the race was Norwegian athlete Johannes Klebo, Frenchman Mathis Delauge took second place, and another Norwegian representative, Einar Hedegaert, took third place.
Earlier, on February 10, Korostelev competed in the men's sprint classic style, showing a result of 3 minutes 19.88 seconds. At the end of the race, he took 35th place.
The Russian skier's next performance is scheduled for February 21 at 13:00 Moscow time — he will take part in the 50 km classic style mass start.
The Russian made his Olympic debut in Italy on February 8. Then he competed in the men's 20 km skiathlon. The athletes covered 10 km of the track in classic style and 10 km in free style. Korostelev came in fourth. He was only 1.5 seconds away from bronze. Nevertheless, TV commentator Dmitry Guberniev called this result worthy.
Savely Korostelev was born on November 30, 2003 in Perm. He started skiing as a child. His first mentors were his grandparents, and then the coach of the Russian junior national team, Alexander Kravchenko, continued his training.
Already at the junior level, Korostelev has achieved serious success: two gold medals at the World Championships and an impressive collection of awards from the stages of the Cup of Russia. In December 2025, Savely became the first Russian skier to return to the World Cup in a neutral status. The athlete relies on the classic course, sprint races and relay races — these disciplines bring him the most striking victories.
