On February 11, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called those accusing Lithuanian singer Yesica of using "Slavic motifs" in her music "Nazi geeks."

"Yes, we cite historical quotations, we draw parallels, we can certainly use references to some international documents in this case, but it is impossible not to say that these are Nazi geeks," she noted on the Moscow-24 TV channel.

Zakharova stressed that, despite the opportunity to use historical facts and international documents, it is important to understand that such actions remind of the events of the past, when national and ethnic groups were subjected to ill-treatment.

She recalled that 85-90 years ago, people from a certain nationality were first segregated, then placed in ghettos, and then often shot or buried alive.

On February 8, Zakharova also called those who accuse Shivokaite of using "Slavic motives" in her work Nazis. She clarified that the successful singer, who earns up to €1 million a year, is the envy of the "aged and tarnished" local stars. According to Zakharova, they "can't stand" that she shares the stage with them and uses "Slavic musical motifs."
