UAZ is testing a new Russian diesel engine
Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) is conducting winter tests of a domestic diesel engine, which will appear on the UAZ Patriot, Pickup and Profi models. This was reported to Izvestia on February 11 at the enterprise.

We are talking about a two-liter power unit with a capacity of 136 horsepower (hp), which is being produced in Yelabuga. This engine has the Sollers 550010 index, UAZ clarified.
"Currently, the engine control unit is being calibrated at subzero temperatures on running prototypes. Experts assess the degree of smoke in the exhaust gases, check the efficiency of neutralizer regeneration and a number of other parameters of the power unit. At the same time, the cruise control and the maximum speed limit function are also being calibrated," the company said.
The prototypes are being tested both on the streets of Ulyanovsk and on the country roads of the Ulyanovsk region. The evaluation of the performance of the domestic turbodiesel, its settings and calibrations are carried out in various driving modes, including on high-speed highways, on road sections with prolonged ascents and descents, as well as at minimum speeds when maneuvering the car while parking, UAZ said.
The day before, it became known that UAZ, together with the Popular Front project, upgraded the Hunter evacuation SUV to perform tasks in its area. Improvements and changes have been made to the car, developed taking into account the wishes of its participants.
