Rossiya and Nordwind Airlines have made adjustments for flights to Cuba
Due to difficulties with refueling aircraft in Cuba, Rossiya and Nordwind Airlines were forced to make adjustments to the flight program at the island's airports. This was announced on February 11 by the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency in its Telegram channel.
"In the coming days, Rossiya Airlines will perform a number of flights with cargo only in the opposite direction – from Havana and Varadero to Moscow – to ensure the export of Russian tourists currently in Cuba," the agency said.
The message emphasizes that after the flights the airline will be temporarily suspended until the situation changes. Rosaviatsia also writes that the Russian Ministry of Transport is particularly monitoring the situation with flights between the countries, and also maintains constant contact with the Cuban aviation authorities. The ministry noted that the parties are looking for alternative ways to resume the flight program.
The Efe news agency reported on February 9 that the Cuban authorities, amid the escalating energy crisis, notified air carriers of an imminent shortage of aviation fuel. It was noted that the fuel reserves for aircraft in the country may run out within a day. In some international airports — for a month
