The Republic of Poland will not join the "Peace Council" initiated by US President Donald Trump, as it has doubts about the principles and form of this organization. This was announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Wednesday, February 11.

"Now is probably the time to state unequivocally and clearly that in the current circumstances <...> Poland will not join the work of the Peace Council, but we will analyze it all the time very flexibly, and, of course, very openly," TVP Wilno quoted him as saying.

The Prime Minister clarified that despite his country's refusal to participate in the association created by the American leader, relations with Washington remain a priority for Warsaw. He added that if the circumstances he specifically mentioned change, Poland may reconsider its decision on the "Peace Council."

On January 28, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking about the goals of the Peace Council, said that some European states had decided not to join Trump's initiative because they needed the constitutional approval of parliament.

On January 23, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, taking part in a press conference with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, said that Germany could not accept the governing structure of the Peace Council, as it did not comply with his country's constitutional considerations.

On January 22, Trump announced that many world leaders had signed the charter of the Peace Council. According to him, the created association will not be useless, as his future work is practical.
