Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov was awarded the State Duma medal
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was awarded the State Duma Medal on February 11.
The award was presented to the Minister by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin during the plenary session.
"The Council of the State Duma adopted a unanimous decision, taking into account the opinion of all political factions, to award the highest state award of the State Duma, the Medal of the State Duma, to Foreign Minister Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov," TASS quoted Volodin as saying.
Last May, Lavrov received Russia's highest award, the Order of St. Andrew the First—Called, from Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. The Russian leader noted "Lavrov's dedication to Russia and willingness to defend its interests in any situation."
