Russia is ready to make compromises, but they should not infringe on its own interests. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday, February 11.

"We (Russia. — Ed.) We are ready, any agreement cannot be reached without compromises. Russian Russians should not be harmed, but in such a way that our legitimate interests are not infringed upon and that after such a peace there will be no threats to the security of the Russian Federation and no threats to the Russian people and Russian culture on the territory that will be called Ukraine or otherwise," he said during his speech in the State Duma (State Duma).

The Russian Foreign Minister added that the Russian side would not sign a treaty that was not suitable for itself. He also recalled that this position had been repeatedly indicated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on February 10 that Russia, together with Putin, had been trying to ensure the interests of their people by peaceful means until the last moment. He recalled that the special operation became inevitable after Western countries rejected all the ways out of Moscow on a peaceful path. Peskov clarified that peace still remains preferable for Moscow, but it must fully ensure and insure its interests.

On December 19, during a press conference entitled "Results of the Year", which was held in the format of a direct line, the President of the Russian Federation said that his state would immediately stop the fighting if the conditions were met. He clarified that Russia demands to ensure its security conditions both in the medium and long term.

On February 11, Lavrov said that the understandings on a sustainable settlement in Ukraine, which were reached during the meeting of the Russian and American leaders in Alaska, remain "on the table", all agreements are in force. At the same time, he pointed out the impossibility of eradicating the crisis provoked by Western states and Kiev without understanding its root causes.
