In 2026, the Ski Race of Russia will be held for the 44th time and will once again bring together hundreds of thousands of people across the country - those for whom large—scale races have become a long-standing tradition, and those who will start this year for the first time. Among the participants are the teams and authors of the initiatives of the VI season of the All—Russian sports Project competition "You're in the game", who have already submitted applications and decided to test themselves in the largest winter launch of the year.

For the first time, the Ski Race of Russia took place in 1982, becoming one of the largest winter sports events in the world in 44 years, both in terms of geographical coverage and the number of participants. This year, the Moscow race took place on February 7, the Day of Winter Sports in Russia; in most regions, the starts will be held on February 14. There are many ski initiatives among the projects of the "You're in the Game" competition, for example, more than 80 applications were received during the V season alone.

"Skiing is very popular in Russia, so interest in the Russian Ski Track has not waned since Soviet times. People have been participating in the race for years, bringing their children, grandchildren, and friends. This is not just a competition, but a real celebration of sports and a kind of national phenomenon: a start that unites generations, an event that motivates people to play sports, despite the weather conditions. In this regard, it is especially important that skiing is among the initiatives of the "You are in the Game" competition today. This opens up new horizons for people, because you don't have to be a professional athlete to participate in cross-country skiing. The main thing here is not the result, but the very fact of participation, interest, excitement, desire to move and be healthy. The support of skiing in the framework of the competition is extremely valuable!" — Alexander Legkov, Olympic champion in cross-country skiing, expert of the "You're in the game" contest, is convinced.

The authors of the applications for the VI season of the All—Russian sports Project Competition "You're in the Game", which aims to support those who promote sports throughout the country, not only develop their sports initiatives, but also motivate them to lead an active lifestyle by their own example. One of them is Yaroslav Afanasyev, who, together with a team of like—minded people, is engaged in the development of skiing in the Pushkinogorsky district of the Pskov region. Their SkiMiLand project is aimed at children and young people: in winter, young participants go skiing, and in summer they go running and cycling. Classes unite them, make them healthier, strengthening their overall physical fitness.

"Every pair of ski tracks on freshly fallen snow is already an achievement for us. We see that children go out more often, and families enjoy spending time together. More and more people are also interested in our project itself: the initiative is gradually receiving support from local schools, the administration, and the media. Participation in the "You're in the Game" contest is a chance to get an additional resource that will help the project develop sustainably and expand opportunities for training and starts, says Yaroslav Afanasyev.

Another participant of the VI season of the "You're in the Game" competition is the family children's biathlon club "In the Top Ten" from Tyumen. Its author is Olga Moshenkova, the world champion in summer biathlon, who, after finishing her sports career, decided to organize biathlon training for children in her city. They have been held in the family club since 2024. The children who study there show excellent results, being among the best at the All-Russian competitions.

Detailed information about the VI season of "You're in the game" is published on the official website of the tyvigre contest.Russia. Applications will be accepted until March 31, 2026.
