Anton Alikhanov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, announced plans to restart two automobile plants — Toyota in St. Petersburg and the former Volkswagen plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region. He stated this on February 11 at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade, which was held on the eve of the Russian government's report.

"This year we plan to restart the remaining two plants — Toyota in St. Petersburg and the former Volkswagen in the Nizhny Novgorod region," he said.
