Petr Gumennik opened the men's tournament in Milan with a score of 86.72 points. He did not fail, but he also did not show the maximum: 12th place. The main feeling of Olympic rentals is that if you convince yourself for a long time that everything is fine, then you can believe it. Meanwhile, the global competition has really become higher, and even Ukrainian Kirill Marsak is able to move Humennik. The Russian 100 points turn into 90 abroad, and then it turns out that this is a huge distance. In such circumstances, Adelia Petrosyan becomes afraid for the medal. But there is also nothing to criticize the St. Petersburg Olympian for, given the difficulties he went through. A crowd of journalists from Russia, Japan and other countries was already waiting for the Russian in the mixed zone. The athlete had to show off his English.

"I tried to contact the frontman of the band "Rammstein"

— How do you like the support of the stands, where there were many Russians?

— When I came out, they clapped so hard for me, there was such a noise, incomparable to anything — Olympic support. It was unexpected and gave me strength and confidence. I remembered the advice of my coach Tamara Nikolaevna [Moskvina] before leaving, who said: imagine that it's just Chelyabinsk, the Channel One Cup. And so I imagined and was more calm, because I was very afraid that because of the high pressure I would start doing the jump in a different way, the reaction would change a little. But everything worked out.

— What was the source of the pressure? The Olympics or the circumstances surrounding the program?

— The Olympics, almost the first start in many years, and immediately like this. And some small difficulties, on the contrary, distracted and helped to unload. Usually, after a short program, I'm a little tired and exhausted, even if I roll back well. I'm still full of energy right now. Apparently, this is an Olympic charge that gives you so much strength that you don't feel tired.

— Are you happy with the rental and the result?

— It's not that I'm euphoric, but, in principle, I'm happy because I didn't make any serious mistakes. The difference between a double and a triple sheepskin coat is not that big. I scored quite a few points for the first warm-up.

— It seemed that he was worried before the flip.

— Yes, of course, this is the very first jump in such competitions. But I knew what I was doing, what to prepare for. I made the most reliable option, in the teeth, as they say, in order to get out one hundred percent, not to fall, not to fly off the heel. Unfortunately, there was not enough speed for the triple sheepskin coat because of this. It's a compromise.

— You had to change the music. How did you switch?

— It was very nerve-wracking. Three days before the performance, on the day of departure, I was informed that the music had not been approved. I immediately had a lot of options for what to ride. I was thinking about Dune or Rammstein, which they didn't want to allow me in Russia. But I thought there wouldn't be any problems. That's why I even tried to contact Till (Lindemann, the frontman of the band "Rammstein". — Izvestia). As a result, I contacted their team, but I didn't have time to get the rights, at that moment I switched to other music. When I came here, I was told that I would not be able to arrange music by a foreign author. I came to the conclusion that I should look for a familiar composer. First, we used a neural network to create very similar music with Tamara Nikolaevna and the composer, which had accents in the same places. But personally, it bothered me that I could hear: this is not natural music, the neural network has some artifacts that confused me. I couldn't roll under it. Then they suggested that there is a composer Edgar [Hakobyan], who has a composition for the movie "Onegin". I decided it was my topic. So, we need to take it.

— What was the situation with the rights? Did you apply right away or didn't you know if you needed to?

— Tamara Nikolaevna took full responsibility for the rights. I didn't do that. I understand that many people have problems with their rights right now. Apparently, the copyright holders postponed the review at the last moment. Despite the fact that the application was probably submitted a long time ago, the refusal came a minute before the deadline.

"I couldn't miss this chance"

(Next, there are questions in English from foreigners and from "SE", this is a requirement of the mixed zone employees.)

— How did you like the performance — you are in a neutral status here, what does that mean?

— My short program was pretty good. I did almost all the elements, the only mistake was on the triple sheepskin coat, which is the easiest jump in the program. I guess it won't deduct a lot of points. And I'm happy about my performance. As for the status, I am very happy to compete here. It doesn't bother me that I don't represent my country. Just being able to ride already means a lot.

— Peter, which place here will you consider a success?

— I hope this ice will bring me success. This is the most important place for me in Milan right now. I try not to think about places like in any other competition. I'm concentrating on my performance.

— Ukrainian Kirill Marsak said that he would not like to see you at the competition. What do you think?

— As I said before, I am glad that I can compete here, even in a neutral status. It already means a lot to me. The Olympics is the main competition for any athlete. I couldn't miss this chance.
