- Degtyarev announced the possibility of the IOC considering the issue of restoring OCD in May.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) may consider restoring the status of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) in April or May. This was announced on February 11 by Russian Sports Minister and head of the ROC Mikhail Degtyarev at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports.
"We are waiting for the meeting of the executive committee council. It can be convened at any time. I would not count on March and February, because the Olympic and Paralympic Games are held during this period. Difficult topics are not accepted during this period. But here it is complicated and politicized. In my opinion, it could be April or May, when the executive committee will look at our dossier," RIA Novosti quoted Degtyarev as saying.
The Minister noted that the ROC had created a legal framework and completely corrected the charter in accordance with the Olympic Charter. Degtyarev said that as soon as IOC President Kirsty Coventry assumed the presidency, she handed over our dossier to the IOC Legal Commission. He also adds that the IOC has confirmed that there are no legal obstacles.
Earlier, on February 9, Roman Rotenberg, Vice President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, said he expected the IOC to order the admission of the Russian junior national teams to international competitions using national symbols. Earlier, ot claimed that the committee had made a recommendation on the admission of the Russian national teams.
