Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Legrade, who won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Milan on February 10, confessed to cheating on his girlfriend on live TV.

"There is one person who may not be watching [the broadcast] today. Six months ago, I met the love of my life. The most beautiful, most beautiful person in the world. And three months ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life and cheated on her," the athlete said after finishing the 20—kilometer race, as quoted by NRK TV channel.

Legrade added that he was trying to be a good example, but had committed a "stupid" act, and now it pains him to admit that he had hurt a loved one, the Newspaper said.Ru». In a conversation with reporters after the award ceremony, he explained that he had decided to speak about it publicly the day before, regardless of the outcome of the race.

"When I get a medal, maybe the message will be stronger. Not many people know what I've been through. Now, maybe the whole world will know about it," the biathlete said.

When asked why he decided to take such an outspoken step, Legrade replied that he had "nothing to lose" and was ready to commit "social suicide" on live TV for the "tiny opportunity" to get a chance at forgiveness. The biathlete did not disclose the girl's name, so as not to attract the attention of the press to her.

"Maybe I've ruined everything for myself now in order to get her back. I don't know," he concluded

The bronze medal at the 2026 Olympics in the individual race, where Legrade lost to compatriot Johan-Olav Botn and Frenchman Emilien Jacquelin, became the athlete's first personal award at the Games. He previously won gold in the relay at the Beijing Olympics. The biathlete is also a seven-time world champion and multiple World Cup winner.

On February 8, the French biathlon team won the mixed relay at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. It was noted that the team consisting of Eric Perrault, Kentin Fillon-Maillet, Loup Jeanmonneau and Julia Simon used seven additional cartridges and showed a time of 1 hour 4 minutes 15.5 seconds.
