- China has tested the Changzheng-10 lunar rocket and the Mengzhou rescue system
China has successfully conducted comprehensive flight tests of the new Changzheng-10 launch vehicle (Long March 10), designed for manned flights to the Moon, as well as the emergency rescue system for the promising Mengzhou spacecraft ("Dream Boat"). This was reported by the Xinhua news Agency on February 11.
"The tests took place at the Wenchang cosmodrome in Hainan Province in the south of the country. During the tests, the specialists carried out a demonstration flight of the rocket at low altitudes and checked the operation of the Mengzhou ship rescue system under conditions of maximum aerodynamic pressure," the publication says.
It is noted that the successful completion of the tests was an "important step-by-step breakthrough" in the implementation of the national program of manned flights to the Moon.
It is added that China has already conducted a series of firing tests of engines for Changzheng-10, as well as tests of elements of the Lanyue lunar lander. The new launch vehicle and the Mengzhou spacecraft are considered as key elements of the Chinese lunar mission, which aims to land taikonauts on the surface of the Earth's satellite by 2030.
According to the agency, all the assigned tasks were completed in full.
On February 4, Russia launched a new selection for the cosmonaut squad, which for the first time will be held using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. It was noted that those who pass all the selection stages for the new Roscosmos cosmonaut recruitment will have to work at the new Russian Orbital Station (ROS) and carry out missions on the Moon.
