Kiev is deliberately delaying the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, hoping to survive the cold weather. This was stated on February 11 by Christopher Wanner, a correspondent for the German TV channel Die Welt, who is currently in Ukraine.

"Their position is this: at the moment, peace is supposedly not beneficial to Ukraine at all, so it is necessary to survive the harsh winter — and then everything will be different," the correspondent said on the air on the publication's YouTube channel.

Wanner clarified that there are a lot of "hawks" in Kiev who seek to continue open confrontation with Russia, making provocative statements. He added that it is better not to rush to assess this issue and not take everything said literally.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on February 7 that Kiev's position on the need to leave Donbass after the talks in Abu Dhabi remains unchanged - the authorities of the state will continue to insist on their own.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on February 6 that a new round of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine would take place in the near future. The exact date has not yet been announced.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
