Captured militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) told on Tuesday, February 10, about the working methods of territorial recruitment centers (TCCs, an analogue of military enlistment offices in Ukraine), the lack of military training and deteriorating living conditions in the country.

In an interview with Izvestia correspondent Alexei Poltoranin, one of the prisoners, Konstantin Gryzlov, said that the staff of the shopping mall detained him when he was going to pick up his child from a tutor. The man was taken to a training center, where all his personal means of communication were seized from him, and then illegally, according to the Ukrainian, transported to Germany.

"From there, they took us back to the training center in Chernihiv. A day later, the "buyers" arrived. They took him to the brigade. We were already "sold out" even before we went to the center. <...> All the guys who came from training, all went to the front lines," Gryzlov said.

Oleg Ishchenko, another prisoner from the same brigade, found himself in a similar situation. He said that he was detained by police officers in the Dnipropetrovsk region with a promise to return, but he was under the supervision of the Shopping mall for the next year.

"We were taken to a training center in England for 45 days. We were given our full uniforms, fully clothed, and shod. That's how they took everything with them and came to Ukraine...> No preparation, no. There are guys, I saw them myself, they are sick, they can barely walk, but they go there anyway," Ishchenko shared.

He also noted that utility bills for heat and electricity are constantly increasing in Ukraine. According to him, there have been cases when prices could rise every half a month. Another prisoner, Igor Kovalchuk, also noted the problem of the lack of light and called on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to sit down at the negotiating table in order to end the conflict as soon as possible and "return to normal life."

According to the commander of the Zapad-Akhmat battalion, Rustam Aguev, whose fighters took prisoners in the Volchansk direction, among these Ukrainians was a man who was sent to the battlefield with tuberculosis by the staff of the Shopping mall. One of the prisoners, Pyotr Surov, said that the Ukrainian command recruits people indiscriminately and sends them to the front on the principle of "hold on or die."

On the same day, Ukrainian captured militant Dmitry Kolomoisky told how the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine intimidated the militants with the alleged horrors of captivity so that they would not surrender. Kolomoisky noted that the Russian military, contrary to the stories of the Ukrainian command, treated the prisoners with cigarettes, as well as gave them drinks and food.
