Andrey Tumanov, chairman of the Moscow Horticultural Union, said that the current frosts do not pose a threat to a healthy garden.

In an interview with Radio 1 on February 9, he noted that proper agricultural techniques in the previous season and a competent choice of varieties play a crucial role. According to him, frosts do not pose a serious threat to a healthy and well-groomed tree: in the conditions of the Moscow region, it can withstand temperatures up to -35 degrees.

Tumanov also warned summer residents about scammers who use edited images to sell non—existent plants, such as "columnar" cherries or so-called raspberry trees. Speaking about seedlings, he called for abandoning the principle of "the sooner the better" and for a balanced approach to sowing.

The gardener emphasized that success does not depend on calendar dates, but on the correct calculation of the sowing time for each variety. To do this, according to his recommendation, it is necessary to determine the date of planting in the ground or greenhouse, take into account the period of growing seedlings and, subtracting it from the date of planting, obtain the optimal sowing time.

The expert also drew attention to the growing conditions: it is difficult to obtain high–quality seedlings without additional lighting in February and March due to the short daylight hours. He also noted that lowering the temperature to 12-15 degrees helps to avoid pulling seedlings in a warm apartment.

Nikita Chaplin, a deputy of the State Duma and chairman of the Union of Summer Residents of the Moscow region, said on February 1 that the suburban area requires care all year round, especially in winter, since fires, theft and damage to property are most common at this time.

Horticulturist Svetlana Samoilova suggested on January 31 that spinach and radishes, as well as greens and arugula, be sown in February. You can also sow lettuce, June cabbage (early white cabbage) and Brussels sprouts, asters and early tomato varieties such as beta or beta lux in the greenhouse. 360.ru .
