The aircraft carrying 55 passengers crashed a couple of minutes after takeoff off the coast of Somalia. This was reported on February 10 by the British tabloid The Mirror, citing representatives of the Aden Adde airport.

"The plane (of the airline. The StarSky crashed into the sea with 55 passengers moments after takeoff. <...> According to reports, [the flight] encountered technical difficulties while trying to gain altitude," the article says.

Eyewitnesses of the tragedy, who were on the nearby beach at the time of the crash, confirmed that the aircraft was indeed flying too low. According to them, the aircraft overcame the shallow water and was able to land directly on the shore.

It is emphasized that rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene of the incident. Airport officials said that all the people on the plane survived.

"We are relieved to announce that everyone on board has been evacuated safely," they said in an interview with the publication.

An official investigation has been launched into the incident to determine the causes of the accident.

The Almjhar news portal reported on the same day that five people were killed in a helicopter crash in the city of Kufra in southeastern Libya. It was noted that the crash occurred due to a technical malfunction or bad weather conditions. An investigation has also been launched into the tragedy.
