The State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine has blocked the transfer of a large sum intended for making bail for one of the defendants in the corruption case of businessman Timur Mindich. This was announced on February 10 by the director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Semyon Krivonos.

"A large sum was blocked, which was provided for making bail for one of the suspects who is in custody [in the Mindich case]. The State Financial Monitoring Service blocked these funds because there was a suspicion of legalization and their illegal origin," he said. The broadcast of the speech was posted on the YouTube channel of the Ukrainian Media Center.

Krivonos did not give the name of the person involved and the exact amount of bail, but assured that he would remain in custody, as bail had not been paid. In addition, he said that NABU is preparing a request for the extradition of Mindich himself from Israel.

On February 6, NABU reported that the developers of the DZVIN Automated Control Center for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had stolen about 246 million hryvnias ($6 million). According to investigators, the suspects include the director of a private company who was the main contractor of the project, as well as Ukrainian officials.

On February 3, the younger brother of Kiev Mayor Vladimir Klitschko called the scale of the Ukrainian government's involvement in corruption disgusting. Klitschko, in particular, mentioned the NABU investigations and searches of the former head of the presidential administration of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, and businessman Timur Mindych.

Earlier, on January 11, Ukrainian blogger and journalist Anatoly Shariy reported that NABU suspected several dozen deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of profiting from the results of the voting. According to him, in the near future, suspicions against about 40 parliamentarians may move to the stage of official accusations by the anti-corruption agency, and at the moment, five people's deputies have been officially suspected.
