The wife of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, 65-year-old Charlotte, was hospitalized after falling from a bicycle. This was reported on Tuesday, February 10, by the Tagesspiegel newspaper, citing the German DPA news agency.

"The Chancellor's wife, Charlotte Merz, fell while cycling with her husband Friedrich Merz in Arnsberg, Sauerland (a city and district in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. — Ed.). <...> She was taken to the hospital," the article says.

It is also noted that the incident itself occurred on Saturday, February 7, in the afternoon. Merz's wife was equipped at the time of the fall, so she was not seriously injured. The Chancellor himself accompanied his wife throughout her stay at the medical facility, from where Charlotte was discharged after a while.

The day after the incident, Merz, as reported in the publication, went on a bike ride alone. During the trip, he made a stop at one of his favorite cafes, where he had a beer.

On June 17, 2025, CNN reported on the hospitalization of the US Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristy Noem, after she had an allergic reaction. It was noted that she was taken to one of the Washington medical institutions. It was noted that the activist was already on the mend at that time.
