Alpine skier Yulia Pleshkova will compete at the Olympics on February 12.
Russian alpine skier Yulia Pleshkova will take part in the supergiant competition at 13:30 Moscow time on Thursday, February 12. The athlete will represent Russia in a neutral status, without using national symbols.
Earlier, Pleshkova took 22nd place in the downhill at the 2026 Olympics. She clocked a time of 1:39.69, 3.59 seconds behind the winner. The descent of the Russian athlete was postponed due to the fall of Andorean alpine skier Cande Moreno — doctors helped her on the slope.
Pleshkova was born on May 17, 1997 in Yelizovo (Kamchatka), in the family of Mikhail and Tatiana Pleshkov. The athlete's debut at the Russian championship took place in 2014. In 2016, she won the Russian Cup in downhill and took 20th place at the Junior World Championships in combination.
A year later, the athlete took bronze in the parallel team race at the Universiade. In 2018, she won the bronze of the Junior World Cup in downhill and the gold of the national championship in the same discipline. In 2021, she won gold at the Russian Supergiant Championship in her native Yelizovo and the European Cup stage.
After the suspension of Russian athletes from international competitions in 2022, Pleshkova focused on domestic competitions, where she repeatedly won the Cup of Russia. In 2023, she won gold in parallel slalom; in 2024, she won in super combined, slalom and supergiant, plus a victory in giant slalom at the Spartakiad. In 2025, she added to the list of her awards the gold of the Russian championships in downhill and supergiant, as well as silver in giant slalom.
The first international appearance after the suspension took place on January 10, 2026: Pleshkova took 51st place in the downhill at the World Cup in Austria. Four days later, he took third place in the supergiant at the FIS tournament in Germany. And on January 17, at the World Cup in Italy, the athlete finished 40th in the downhill and 48th in the supergiant.
