- Reuters has learned about Jaguar Land Rover's plans to recall more than 2,000 cars in the United States.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is recalling 2,278 electric vehicles in the United States due to possible overheating of the high-voltage battery, which increases the risk of a car fire. This was reported on February 10 by the Reuters news agency, citing the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The publication clarifies that the recall campaign will affect electric vehicles of the Jaguar I-Pace model.
"The battery supply will be updated by the dealer or via a cloud update to limit the charge level to 90%," the department said.
The NHTSA added that this decision is temporary, and final troubleshooting measures for the vehicles are still under development.
Reuters, citing NHTSA, also reported on January 27 that German automaker Volkswagen has initiated a recall campaign for 44,551 electric vehicles in the United States due to the potential risk of battery fires. It was noted that Volkswagen dealers will update the software for free or diagnose and replace the batteries in all electric vehicles that have been recalled.
