It is noted that the epicenter of the seismic event was located several dozen kilometers from Anapa and Novorossiysk. Tremors were also felt in Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Krymsk, Supsekh and Sukko.

At the same time, Professor Boris Vakhrushev, Head of the Department of Geography and Geomorphology at Vernadsky Crimean Federal University (KFU), noted that the cause of the earthquake that occurred in the Anapa and Novorossiysk areas was the discharge of tension that had accumulated during shifts in the Earth's crust.
