Over the past day, 215 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 24 people were killed and 264 injured. 18 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on February 10 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

In one of the villages of the Rostov region, a 60-year-old female passenger car driver decided to skip an adjustable railway crossing during the daytime at a forbidding traffic light signal, but collided with a three-car suburban rail bus. The passenger of the car was killed in the accident, the culprit of the incident was hospitalized with injuries.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorists of the importance of observing the rules of passage of railway crossings, since this maneuver is considered dangerous and requires the driver to concentrate and pay maximum attention. Despite this, some drivers try to pass in front of a nearby train. Trying to gain a few seconds of travel, they often endanger not only their own lives, but also the lives and health of their own passengers, railway staff, passengers of commuter trains and long-distance trains, the department noted.

In addition, over the past day, 21 bus accidents were recorded, in which one person was killed, and another 28 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. 15 accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

So, in Moscow in the morning, a 42-year-old truck driver who was taking snow out of yards was not convinced of the safety of the maneuver when leaving the adjacent territory and, without providing an advantage in traffic, collided with a city shuttle bus with 12 passengers in the cabin. As a result of the accident, the culprit of the collision and seven passengers of the bus were injured and, after providing medical assistance, were sent for outpatient treatment.

As a result of 73 accidents involving pedestrians, six people were killed, and 70 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 18 child pedestrians, 11 of them were injured when crossing the roadway in designated places. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 38 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 35 outside their area of operation. 23 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 26 young road users, including eight passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to strictly follow the rules of the road and be more careful when driving, especially in the morning and evening. The life and health of passengers depend entirely on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior of the driver.

"We also draw the attention of drivers to the strict observance of the rules for the safe transportation of children. Take care of your young passengers, avoiding even the prerequisites for a possible tragedy. The lack or negligence of driver's control over the safe transportation of preschool and primary school children, as well as parents' inattention to their behavior on the street and leisure activities, often lead to injuries or even death of young road users," said the police colonel, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Sergey Hrantskevich.

According to the operational data of the State Traffic Inspectorate, in 9 days of February 2026, 242 accidents involving minors occurred in the Russian Federation, in which three children under the age of 16 were killed and 267 injured.

On February 4, it was reported that the Russian Interior Ministry had prepared a draft order, which defines a list of indicators, criteria and frequency of evaluation of the effectiveness of driving schools in Russia.
