Famous American alpine skier Lindsey Vonn has revealed that she will need several surgeries due to a compound leg fracture she sustained while competing at the Winter Olympics in Italy. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on February 10.

"Yesterday, my Olympic dream did not end the way I imagined. It wasn't a fairytale ending, it was just life. I dared to dream and worked so hard to make it happen," Lindsey Vonn wrote on her social media.

The publication writes that a skier in the downhill race at the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games suffered a leg injury that will require several surgical operations.

The 41-year-old athlete added that she does not regret anything and that the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and other injuries she received earlier are not related to the current fall, the publisher notes.

Vonn fell during a race on February 8 in the downhill at the Olympic Games in Italy.

The 2026 Winter Olympic Games officially started in Milan, Italy, on February 6, when the opening ceremony took place. The competition will be held until February 22. 13 athletes from Russia will participate in the Olympics this year. However, they were not allowed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to participate in the opening ceremony.
