A group of deputies of the Italian lower house of parliament initiates a proposal to terminate financial assistance to Ukraine. This was announced on February 9 by the parliamentarian of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Rossano Sasso.

"We believe that further arms supplies to [Ukrainian leader Vladimir] Zelensky will not benefit the peace process. The peace achieved today will provide Ukrainians with better conditions than the one that can be achieved in the future," the parliamentarian wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Sasso stressed that Ukraine has long discredited itself with numerous corruption scandals, which is why all the aid sent to the country's authorities does not reach the real recipients. The discussion and voting on this issue will take place on February 10 in Rome.

Italian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Transport and leader of the League party Matteo Salvini said on January 26 that Zelensky needed to sign a peace agreement as soon as possible. He noted that otherwise the Ukrainian leader would have to make a choice "between defeat and defeat."
