At least seven people have died in an accident at a gold mine in eastern China's Shandong Province. This was reported on February 9 by the Sina news portal.

"As a result of an accident at a gold mine in Yantai, Shandong Province, seven people were killed," the publication says.

It is specified that at the moment, specialists have begun work to eliminate the consequences. In addition, the emergency response and public safety services are investigating the causes of the accident.

On January 30, Reuters reported that over 200 miners mining coltan ore in the Rubaya mine, which is located in the eastern territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), were killed when structures collapsed. It is noted that the mine produced about 15% of the world's reserves of columbite-tantalite, from which heat-resistant materials are produced.
