Oil supplies from Mexico to Cuba were temporarily halted due to threats from the American side to impose trade duties. This was announced on February 9 by the country's President Claudia Sheinbaum.

"The shipment [of oil] is currently suspended, we are striving to avoid negative consequences for Mexico," she said during a daily press conference.
