The psychologist talked about ways to deal with bullying at school
Lilia Shuvalova, a psychologist and lecturer at the Department of Sports Management at the Faculty of Sports at Synergy University, told how to help a student cope with bullying at school.
In conversation with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Monday, February 9, the expert explained that bullying manifests itself not only in physical violence, but also in insults, systematic bullying, neglect and boycott, and in a digital environment, harassment on the Internet can be no less traumatic than direct physical impact. In such situations, she said, it is important to ensure both physical and digital safety for the child.
The psychologist noted that children rarely tell their parents about bullying, but sleep and appetite disorders, slovenly appearance and unwillingness to go to school can be alarming signals. She stressed that bullying often exists with the tacit consent of others, and ignoring the problem on the part of adults can seriously affect the fate of a child and in extreme cases lead to tragic consequences.
According to the expert, in case of confirmed harassment, it is necessary to act immediately: apply with a written statement to the management of the educational institution, record injuries in medical institutions and, if necessary, involve law enforcement agencies, writes RT. She also warned against forcibly returning a child to an environment where he is subjected to aggression, noting that this does not harden character, but only increases anxiety and stress. In conclusion, the psychologist called for trusting the child and being more attentive to his feelings.
Also on February 9, psychologist Nika Bolzan said that a child's refusal to eat can be an indicator of deep social discomfort. According to her, a destructive bond has formed in the child's mind due to ridicule due to weight: "food - excess weight — social rejection and pain." If the refusal to eat lasts more than two to three weeks and is accompanied by weight loss, lethargy, irritability, dizziness, fainting, or obsessive fixation on body and weight, it is necessary to urgently contact specialists. 360.ru .
