Ghislaine Maxwell, an accomplice of financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of human trafficking, did not testify before the House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Accountability. This was announced on February 9 by the chairman of this department, James Comer.

"It's definitely very disappointing. We had a lot of questions about the crimes committed by her and Epstein, as well as about possible accomplices," TASS quoted him as saying.

Comer also noted that Maxwell refused to answer questions, citing the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which allows people not to testify against themselves.

In addition, the lawyer of Epstein's accomplice said that his client has no information about violations by the American leader Donald Trump and former US President Bill Clinton.

On February 9, American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk announced that he was ready to pay for lawyers for people who would decide to testify in the Epstein case and name the perpetrators. At the same time, the entrepreneur himself is mentioned in materials related to the Epstein case. In particular, his name appeared in one of the letters to the financier.
