- In the Arctic, an elderly citizen of Ukraine was fined for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
The Kovdorsky District Court of the Murmansk region imposed a fine of 30,000 rubles on an elderly citizen of Ukraine living in the region for approving comments under video materials by foreign agents, which, according to the court, discredit the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This was reported on February 9 by TASS with reference to the resolution.
"It has been established that Yovdiy <...> left approving comments on the YouTube social network (reactions in the form of "likes". — Ed.) under the video materials included in the register of foreign agents. The public approval on the Web of such materials is aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation," the report says.
It is noted that the defendant fully admitted his guilt, repented of what he had done and asked not to apply strict punishments to him. According to him, he acted consciously and independently, without any pressure. The man also noted that he does not support the current government of Ukraine. Despite admitting his guilt, he did not appear at the court hearing.
Taking into account the established circumstances, the court found the man guilty and imposed an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of 30 thousand rubles.
On January 13, the Anti-Terrorist Commission of the Trans-Baikal Territory reported that a resident of Chita received a prison sentence for publicly calling for terrorism on social networks. It was noted that he had previously been prosecuted for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces and calling for extremism on the Internet.
