Russian skier Savely Korostelev competed in the men's classic sprint at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy on February 10. The race started at 11:15 Moscow time. The athlete competed in a neutral status, without national symbols, showing a result of 3 minutes 19.88 seconds. At the end of the race, he took 35th place.

The winner was Norwegian Johannes Klebo, American Ben Ogden took second place, and Frenchman Jules Chappa finished third.

As part of the 2026 Olympic Games, Korostelev has two more competitions scheduled: a 10 km freestyle on February 13 and a 50 km classic mass start on February 21.

The Russian made his Olympic debut in Italy on February 8 in the men's 20 km skiathlon. The athletes covered 10 km of the track in classic style and 10 km in free style. Korostelev came in fourth, being one step away from victory. He was only 1.5 seconds away from bronze. Despite the unfortunate blunder, TV commentator Dmitry Guberniev called this result worthy.

Savely Korostelev was born on November 30, 2003 in Perm into a family of decorated skiers, including world champions and Olympic medal winners. He started training from an early age, first under the guidance of his grandparents, and then joined the coach of the junior Russian national ski team, Alexander Kravchenko.

At this stage, he became a two-time world junior champion, as well as a multiple winner and prize-winner of the Russian Cup. In December 2025, Savely Korostelev became the first Russian skier to return to the World Cup as a neutral athlete. The 22-year-old skier specializes in classic races, sprints and relay races.
