The body of 46-year-old Aliya, the former wife of billionaire Alexander Galitsky, was discovered by employees of the temporary detention facility during a tour. This was announced on February 9 by a law enforcement officer.

According to him, the fact that the woman committed suicide was confirmed after viewing the recordings from the security cameras located in the detention center. It is noted that Galitskaya was placed in solitary confinement.

"The fact of Aliya Galitskaya's suicide has been confirmed. <...> The body of the woman was discovered by the staff of the detention center during a tour," a law enforcement official told the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper (kp.ru ).

The source clarified that Galitskaya was supposed to be interrogated by an investigator at the place of her detention. After that, it was planned to transfer her to a pre-trial detention center (SIZO).

Galitsky's ex-wife was arrested on February 6 in the case of extortion of $ 150 million from the billionaire. She was supposed to remain in custody until April 3. Two days later, it became known that Galitskaya had committed suicide. A member of the Human Rights Council (HRC), journalist Eva Merkacheva, reported that the woman had left a suicide note in which she blamed her ex-husband for the incident.

On February 8, Anna Butyrina, the banker's lawyer, told Izvestia that Galitskaya had never been the wife of a former member of Alfa-Bank's board of directors and had taken his last name on her own initiative. According to the human rights activist, the reason for Aliya's suicide could be a hearing scheduled for February 10 on the division of property between the partners. The woman, who faced up to 20 years in prison, as Butyrina clarified, in 2024, together with unidentified persons, threatened the banker to publish information discrediting his honor.
