- Vance and Pashinyan signed an agreement on the development of cooperation in the nuclear field
On February 9, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance signed an agreement with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to develop cooperation between Washington and Yerevan in the civil nuclear field.
"This is a beautiful country, a country with which the President of the United States (Donald Trump. — Ed.) is very proud to cooperate. The president is very proud to have a great relationship with you, and I know that President Trump sends his best wishes to you personally, as well as to the people," Vance said.
According to him, the parties signed a statement on the completion of negotiations on an agreement on cooperation in the nuclear field, known as the 123 Agreement. The document creates conditions for the participation of American and Armenian companies in the implementation of joint programs. Vance said that the initial investment will amount to $5 billion, with plans to invest another $4 billion in the future.
J.D. Vance will visit Transcaucasia on February 9-11. During the trip, he will meet with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Assistant Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Halberg will also participate in the negotiations.
