Reuters reported on the dangers of using AI in medicine
Medical equipment manufacturers are introducing artificial intelligence (AI) into their products, which harms patients during operations. This was reported on February 9 by the Reuters news agency.
"At least 10 people were injured between the end of 2021 and November 2025. In most cases, the injuries were allegedly caused by errors that caused the TruDi navigation system to give surgeons incorrect information about the location of instruments during operations on patients' heads," the material says.
According to the agency, one patient had cerebrospinal fluid leaking from his nose. In another case, the surgeon mistakenly punctured the base of the patient's skull. In two other cases, the patients reportedly suffered a stroke after accidental damage to a major artery.
Two stroke survivors have filed lawsuits in Texas, claiming that the artificial intelligence of the TruDi system contributed to their injuries. The US authorities also received information about AI-enabled pacemakers that did not notice "abnormal heartbeats," and about an ultrasound machine that allegedly incorrectly detected fetal body parts in pregnant women.
The Guardian newspaper reported on December 28, 2025, that more than 20% of the videos that YouTube offers to new users belong to the category of so-called AI—slop, low-quality content created using artificial intelligence (AI). According to the publication, such AI content is actively distributed on social networks and brings the authors about $117 million a year.
