- Peskov confirmed the lack of response to the Russian Federation's proposal to contribute to the Peace Council
Moscow has not yet received a response on the possibility of using Russian assets frozen in the United States to pay a $1 billion membership fee to the Peace Council proposed by President of the United States Donald Trump. This was announced on February 9 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Such a proposal was indeed made by the Russian president, but we have not yet received a response," the Kremlin spokesman said at a briefing.
Peskov added that the issue of the "Peace Council" continues to be discussed, as instructed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On January 22, Vladimir Putin, at talks with the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, said that Moscow could use frozen Russian assets to contribute to the Peace Council. He added that this option had been discussed earlier with representatives of the American administration.
