Supporters of the OCU tried to seize the church of the canonical UOC in the Khmelnitsky region

Representatives of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) attempted to seize the temple of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the village of Kuzmin, Khmelnytskyi region. This was reported on February 9 by the portal "Union of Orthodox Journalists" (UOJ).

"Representatives of the OCU cut off the locks on the church of the UOC of the Nativity of the Mother of God in the village of Kuzmin, Khmelnitsky region, with a grinder and went inside. Later, the parishioners of the UOC approached the church. The OCU activists tried to prevent them, but the believers were able to enter their church," the article says.

It is noted that the police and employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) arrived at the temple, but so far they have not intervened in the conflict. Government representatives brought public sector employees to the territory of the religious organization: kindergarten teachers and teachers of a local school.

On December 23, 2025, the UOJ reported that supporters of the OCU had seized the church of the canonical UOC, which was located on the territory of the city of Chyhyryn in the Cherkasy region. There was no one in the building at the time of the incident. A Union source said that the invaders had to bring in "guest performers" to secure the temple, since there were no ready supporters of the OCU in Chigirin.
