The UK's exit from the European Union (Brexit) was a failure for the kingdom. This was reported on February 9 by Politico with reference to Dalibor Rohach, a senior researcher at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington.

"The UK needs to clearly understand the horrific failure that the Brexit project has turned out to be — both to improve its European policy and, more importantly, to strengthen its domestic policy," the article says.

As Rohach notes, both major British political parties, Labor and the Conservatives, treat Brexit as a "sacred cow" instead of realizing the scale of its failure.

The author of the article calls the kingdom's exit from the EU chaotic. Now the British Conservatives admit their "deplorable results." The current Labour government, meanwhile, is taking the first steps towards "reintegrating Britain into extremely valuable parts of the European architecture." However, both groups are too afraid to explain why Brexit was a colossal mistake.

"Indeed, on all points that motivated the vote in 2016, Brexit did not meet expectations: after the UK's withdrawal, a sharp increase in immigration followed, reaching more than 900,000 people in 2023," the article says.

In November 2025, Politico learned about the possible sale of diplomatic property by London due to lack of funds. It was clarified that more than 900 facilities of the British department were considered "unreliable or unsafe for further operation." The British Foreign Ministry estimated their further maintenance at $600 million.
