In January 2023, the shortage of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) in the Ukrainian Air Force reached a critical point when the launchers were empty and the air defense forces could not effectively repel attacks by the Russian Armed Forces. This is reported by the Financial Times.

"President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also previously raised the issue of problems with the provision of Air Forces, criticizing their work in the face of an increasing threat. The shortage of missiles worsened the situation against the background of the coldest winter since the beginning of the conflict and the emergency regime in the energy sector," the article clarifies.
