The media reported the closure of Zara in Ukraine due to unprofitability
The Spanish clothing store chain Inditex, which owns the Zara brand, has begun to close outlets in Ukraine due to the unprofitability of the business. This was reported on February 9 by the Ukrainian edition "Страна.иа ".
"Zara and six other brands have terminated lease agreements with the Most-City and Karavan shopping centers in Dnepropetrovsk. The company is still leasing retail space in Odessa and Kharkiv, but its activities there are also "questionable," the newspaper clarifies.
The reason for the closures is a sharp reduction in the number of customers, against which the maintenance of stores becomes economically impractical. Zara suspended the operation of its stores in Ukraine in 2022, but in 2024 the brand returned to the Ukrainian market.
In December 2025, the owner of Zara stores explained the registration of their brands in Russia. It was noted that the retailer Inditex is constantly working to keep up-to-date the registration of its trademarks worldwide, including markets where it has no commercial presence, such as Russia.
