The case of American financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of child molestation and human trafficking, has exposed the exorbitant level of global corruption among Western elites. This was announced on February 8 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

According to the diplomat, the financier's case has become a story about a conspiracy of people who are in power in different countries of the world and can influence global financial and economic processes.

"These crimes were committed for the dominant of evil. Because these people <... They could have found an opportunity — and the laws allow it — to legally satisfy their "specific" needs," Zakharova said on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

She noted that Epstein's case has become a symbol of this "dominant evil." The diplomat also stressed that the society knows nothing about the Western elite.

"And it's just a small snowflake on a huge iceberg, it's not the tip of the iceberg," she concluded.

On February 6, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Western propagandists were trying to involve Russia and others not involved in the scandal surrounding the Epstein case. The agency pointed to cases when videos of Russian officials making compromising statements appeared on the Network. In particular, the recording of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, is mentioned, which allegedly denies the files on the Epstein case published by the US Department of Justice.

Prior to that, Zakharova said that nothing is being investigated in the West in the same way as the Epstein case, when the world's elites are involved. According to her, even documented evidence of elite crimes often remains without consequences.
