Norwegian skier Johannes Klebo became a six-time Olympic champion after winning the skiathlon at the Winter Olympic Games in Italy on February 8.

This gold medal was Klebo's sixth in his career at the Olympics. Thanks to this success, he rose to a clean second place in the list of the most decorated skiers in the history of the Olympic Games, surpassing his compatriot Thomas Alsgord.

The absolute record holder is still Norwegian Bjorn Daly with eight gold awards.

The 2026 Winter Olympic Games officially started in Milan, Italy, on February 6, when the opening ceremony took place. The competition will be held until February 22. 13 athletes from Russia will participate in the Olympics this year. However, they were not allowed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to participate in the opening ceremony.
