The organizers of the 2026 Olympic Games did not satisfy the protest of the Russian side against the results of the skiathlon competition on February 8, in which Russian skier Savely Korostelev came fourth.

The result of the Russian remained unchanged. Our national team tried to protest the actions of the silver medalist of the race, Frenchman Mathis Deloge, who decided to cut the distance right in front of Korostelev, writes Sport-Express. The opponent received a yellow card, but the judges refused to review the medalist's actions.

"The protest was rejected," said Danil Akimov, coach and service member of the Russian national team.

Korostelev himself added that the rejection of the appeal decision remains on the conscience of the jury. The skier added that he was not a judge to discuss it, urging him to wait for the finish protocols, writes TASS.

Earlier that day, Korostelev took part in skiathlon competitions at the Olympic Games in Italy, taking fourth place. The Russian competed in a neutral status, without national symbols. The first was Norwegian Johannes Klebo, who scored 46 minutes and 11 seconds. Korostelev was 3.6 seconds behind the winner.

Our skier's next performances are scheduled for February 10 at 11:55 Moscow time, where he will take part in the classic sprint, on February 13 at 13:45 Moscow time he will compete in the 10 km freestyle race, and on February 21 at 13:00 Moscow time he will run the 50 km mass start distance in classic style.
