Aliya Galitskaya, who committed suicide, was not the wife of billionaire Galitsky

Aliya Galitskaya, who committed suicide in a pre-trial detention facility (IVS) while awaiting a hearing on extortion, was never the wife of Alexander Galitsky, a former member of the board of directors of Alfa Bank. This was announced to Izvestia on February 8 by the banker's lawyer, Anna Butyrina.

According to the lawyer, Galitskaya changed her last name on her own initiative. She added that the reason for Aliya's suicide could be a hearing scheduled for February 10 on the division of property between the partners.

Butyrina also said that Aliya extorted money from Alexander in the amount of $ 160 to 300 million. According to investigators, in 2024 Galitskaya, along with unidentified persons, threatened the banker to publish information discrediting his honor. The woman would face up to 20 years in prison.

As Izvestia found out, the late Aliya was looking for a psychologist, a lawyer and a new home in house chats. Galitskaya also tried to resell snow blowers, grills and other equipment purchased at the store.

Implicated property: assets worth 500 million were seized from Oleg Chemezov's family.

Izvestia also found information about a villa in Montenegro, which is registered to the ex-wife of an ex-official.

Galitskaya's arrest in the case of extortion of $150 million from her ex-husband was reported on February 6. The woman must remain in custody until April 3. On February 8, Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Human Rights Council (HRC), a journalist, reported that Aliya Galitskaya had committed suicide in an IVS. The human rights activist added that Galitskaya was alone in the cell. The woman left a note in which she blamed the banker Galitsky for the incident.

In October 2025, it became known that Alexander Galitsky's property worth 435 million rubles was seized by the Presnensky Court of Moscow. The list of seized property includes several real estate objects, including an apartment on Patriarch's Ponds, a cottage in the village of Millennium Park on Novorizhskoye Highway, an apartment in the Turgenev clubhouse, as well as three parking spaces for a car.
